Average monthly salary in Spain
According to data published by the National Statistics Telegram Number Data Institute (INE), in 2022, the average gross monthly salary in Spain was 2,128.44 gross euros per month. Comparing with the 2,086.8 euros in 2021, this represents an increase of 2% compared to the previous year.
Average gross monthly salaries by autonomous community
As we can see in the previous graph, the autonomous communities with the highest average salary in the main job were the Basque Country (2,545.8 euros), the Community of Madrid (2,381.3 euros) and the Balearic Islands (2,311.7 euros).
The lowest average salaries were observed in Extremadura (1,845.3 euros), the Canary Islands (1,869.3 euros) and the Region of Murcia (1,876.4 euros).
Average annual salary in Spain
For its part, the Tax Agency also publishes data on employees, salary receipts and salaries by province. According to their data, the average annual salary in Spain would be 22,781 euros .
Average salary per year by communities and provinces
As shown in the table, the provinces of Spain with the highest average annual salary are Madrid, Barcelona and Ceuta. On the other hand, the provinces with the lowest annual salaries would be Jaén, Huelva and Badajoz.
