The Peruvian firm Payet, Rey, Cauvi, Pérez Abogados has announced the incorporation of Mario Reggiardo as partner and head of its Dispute Resolution and Arbitration practice . Reggiardo, an arbitration expert, was part of the team at the Bullard, Falla & Ezcurra law firm.
Reggiardo has experience in domestic litigation with special attention De Cell Number to contractual and commercial conflicts through arbitration. Among others, he develops the design of litigation strategies and advice on judicial and arbitration matters, in addition to participating as an arbitrator in disputes administered by the Lima Chamber of Commerce.
He has a Master's degree in “Law & Economics” from the University of Hamburg (Germany) and a degree in Law from the Pontifical Catholic University of Peru.
Recognized in the area of “Dispute Resolution” by Chambers & Partners from 2011 to 2017 and by the Leaders League directory among the most recommended arbitrators in Peru in 2016 and 2017.
The conflict has been brewing since mid-July 2017, when, after the termination of the concession contract for the Chinchero International Airport, Peru conveyed its willingness to avoid arbitration with the construction consortium, who also communicated its intention to reach an agreement. and thus avoid the international route.
But it was not possible and on July 13, 2017, Bruno Giuffra, Peruvian Minister of Transport and Communications, communicated the breach of the contract, through his Twitter account: " given the impossibility of closing an agreement of mutual dissent ", and explained that: “The termination of the contract is done by executing the unilateral termination clause that the contract itself establishes.” A year later the lawsuit was filed with the ICSID.
